Comments: | This book reminded me of the days when I sat with my grandmother telling stories about her yyounger days that made you feel like you were there with her. It also emphasizes the innocence of a child and the fact that their minds are so open to all possibilities. A trait we tend to lose as we age. Beautifully written! |

Comments: | Chuck, Thank you so much for coming to school yesterday to talk to our students. They all really enjoyed hearing storie and getting to meet you and Savannah. I think you really perked an interest in many of them to explore their options in writing. Thank you so much for that. After reading "Angels at Rickwood", I am eager to learn more about teh 1955 and 1956 Barons when my dad, George Prigge, played for them. He loved playing at Rickwood and the book definitely illustrates why. You most certainly knocked one out of the park with this one! Thanks so much! |

Comments: | Chuck, you have written a wonderful book! There were times I found myself laughing out loud and at other times wiping away the tears. You did a remarkable job in telling a story about the love of family and baseball, while giving us knowledge about a great piece of history sitting in our own backyard. Thank you for sharing your angels with us! |

Comments: | After reading "Angels at Rickwood" I realized there is more to Chuck Stewart than Barons memoribilia and old gloves. Chuck took his love of baseball and family and spun it into a delightful story that encorporated everything good about our great game. He especially touched a soft spot for me in the special father/daughter relationship. We may love the history of baseball, but Chuck has shown us there is more to baseball than statistics and records. It can be the glue that bonds family and friends for generations. |

Comments: | As we approach the 100th anniversary of Rickwood Field, America’s oldest ballpark, longtime collector Chuck Stewart kicks off the celebrations with an enchanting children’s story about the 1931 Birmingham Barons and the legendary Dixie Series between the Barons and the Houston Buffaloes, called by some the greatest games ever played. (The Barons took the series.) The story of Annie and Kat is not just for children, though, and I recommend it for parents, too – especially parents who read with their children. Comments: | I read this book to my 8 and 5 year old sons. My 8 year old and I really enjoyed it. My 5 year old son loved the first and last chapters when Corny was a major character; he kind of got lost in the middle but it was above his maturity level. Being from the Birmingham area and having seen the Barons play at Rickwood prior to them moving to Hoover, it had special meaning for me. My sons have only seen them play at Hoover, but weather and work permitting we may catch the classic next year... Great job! |
